What is PDF
Portable Document Format (PDF) – a file format for the presentation, transfer and printing of text-graphic content, created by Adobe Systems. Currently developed and maintained by the International Organization for Standardization.
The reader of this format (Acrobat Reader) is made available for free by Adobe on many hardware and software platforms, while the software used to modify these files is distributed for a fee. However, there are a number of paid and free applications that can display, create and modify files in this format (with varying degrees of effect) – the most known package is Ghostscript, on which some PDF creation drivers are based (programs that work like a virtual printer), there are also on-line applications written in PHP for PDF creation, e.g. FPDF.
What is Word
Microsoft Word – word processor developed by Microsoft. The program was first released on October 25, 1983 under the name Multi-Tool Word and was designed to work on Xenix systems
Like other programs from the Microsoft Office set, Word can be largely customized using the built-in macro language (originally it was WordBasic, and starting with Word 97 – Visual Basic for Applications). However, this feature also allows you to hide computer viruses, such as the Melissa virus, in your documents. For this reason, the editor’s users should make sure that the security level is set to high (Tools / Macro → Security). Antivirus software must also be installed.
How to convert PDF to Word
- Convert PDF to Word documents:
- Open the file in Acrobat DC.
- Click the Export PDF Files tool in the right pane.
- Select the Microsoft Word export format, and then select Word Document.
- Click Export. If the PDF document contains scanned text, the Acrobat to Word converter will automatically perform character recognition.
- Saving a new Word file:
- Name the new file, select the DOC or DOCX format and click Save. And that’s all.
When converting a PDF to DOC or DOCX, the fonts and formatting are preserved. This includes tables, bulleted lists, and other items that sometimes need to be edited.
You can also easily copy, paste and export only the text fragments you need – from a PDF directly to a Word document. Thanks to the PDF converter in Acrobat, changing files is quick and efficient.
You can also afford to convert scanned files to Word documents. Thanks to the optical character recognition feature, Adobe Acrobat converts even the most complex scans to properly formatted Word documents. You don’t have to manually change the page layout. Nor modify the content.
